Though this song is about heartbreak, I actually hadn't experienced it yet when I wrote this song. At least, not really. There was a boy in my freshman year of high school I had in mind, but nothing really happened between us. I originally wrote it on guitar and then decided that I liked the sound of piano with the lyrics better. This is mostly going off of every cliche' in the book about love and relationships. Ironically, listening to it years later has been oddly comforting after having experiencing a couple of real failed relationships.
lyrics
I'm not the kind of girl who falls for these tricks.
I'm not just a girl with a pretty face and lips.
Well you don't love, love me do,
Or please, please me.
So I'm asking you to just let me be.
Well I'm tired of waiting buy the phone all night.
Every time I cry, try as I might,
I'm still thinking of you and the way you made me smile.
Would it have killed you
to call once in a while?
But that's alright the sun's still shinning ahead.
Even though you broke my heart, it's not like I'm dead.
I'll find another guy much better than you.
And he'll appreciate me and all the things I do.
But I've had enough of your artificial love.
Cus I'm not the kind of girl who'd write a song about you.
Not everything I do has to do with you.
This is just my way of movin' on.
There is no way I'd write you a song.
