I wrote this song because I was tired of hearing new music come out every day that was absolutely pointless. It made me sad to know how much music used to mean, for musicians and for listeners. But it seems more and more it's just about making money and who can be the crudest.
lyrics
Once upon a time,
As most stories go,
People meant what they said and what they sang.
But times are different now,
That was long ago,
But that doesn't mean we can't bring it back to the way it was.
There's a lot of sad songs in life,
We gotta take em and make em better.
Just roll with the changes,
speak your heart, sing about what matters to you.
Well have you ever heard the sound of silence?
Seen the answer blowin in the wind?
Did you really give peace a chance?
Or did you just give in?
We may not remember the day the music died,
But we've all been there before,
We've all felt pain, we've had to cry.
Well when you hear a melody, it should have you feelin alright.
It shouldn't just be words,
The music should cast a kind of light on you.
Well have you ever heard the sound of silence?
Seen the answer blowin in the wind?
Did you really give peace a chance?
Or did you just give in?
We have to finish what was started.
The missing is not missing, it's departed.
What's lost can be found,
And music can mean more than just sound.
