Tried my best to make you laugh,
didn't know about your past
or what you'd been through

I had no intention of writin' a sad song,
but I guess I'll just sing along,
and see it through.

Didn't think at first- Well what could go wrong?
Didn't take me all that long... to catch on to you.

Well we, we became the best of friends,
spent every moment, just you and me.
And we, we hit a few rough spots,
but we always patched them up
even though you burned me, third degree.

I had no intention of writin' a sad song,
but I guess I'll just sing along,
and see it through.

Then one day,
you turned your back on me.
I still can't believe,
what a fool I was.
